For #Women’sHistoryMonth, Parenting for Liberation wants to honor Black mama’s who are doing the work of raising liberated children. Throughout the month of March we will highlight Black mamas who lead, inspire, and cultivate liberation in their homes and in the community. Some are public figures and others are connected to our network. We are happy to honor and shine light on their Black Mama Magic!

Today we salute Mia Birdsong @miabirdsong for honoring the important work she does to expand the ways that we build family.

“More of us are building our families outside the restrictive convention of the insular nuclear family because countless structures work as long as the people in them provide each other with love, support, care, and respect. We need more public models and stories about family that reflect the realities of our lives, and show us what it can look like to claim the freedom we need to make those lives on our own terms.”
