NIA

Habari Gani? Nia!

Today, on the fifth day of Kwanzaa, we celebrate Nia (Purpose) which is to make our collective vocation the building & developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.

Today’s reflection and activity comes from our Operations Coordinator, Aila.

Nia is all about purpose. And in this activity, you and your loved ones will co-create your own Family Purpose Statement that is unique to you. Think about the qualities of each member of your family, what makes them unique, and how they contribute to the fabric of your family – not just what they do, but who they are.

Use the worksheet below as a guide to discuss important things like shared values, how to show up for each other, and how to hold each other accountable.

With your loved ones, fill out the following worksheet and keep it on display. Allow children to respond to each question and sign their names at the bottom.
