IMANI

Habari Gani? Imani!

Today, on the seventh and final day of Kwanzaa, we celebrate Imani (Faith) which is to believe with all our hearts in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, & the righteousness & victory of our struggle.

Today’s reflection on Imani comes from our Healing Coordinator, Xan. Join Xan in an affirmation or prayer to keep you grounded and connected to Imani (faith) in self and community.

I invite you to join me in a practice that I think has really served me in staying grounded and rooted in faith. One of the teachers in the world that I really love named Angel Kyodo Williams, and someone asked her how she stays grounded and rooted in faith. And she said, “Well, I don’t really. The truth is that I make the conscious decision to return.”

And so it is my prayer that this practice I lead you in today will serve you in the coming weeks, years, and months in making the conscious decision to return to the principle of Imani and faith in our communities and our people and most importantly, faith in ourselves.

I invite you to put your feet flat on the ground, to put your hands in your lap and find a position that you can sit in for about two to three minutes. And repeat with me the saying, “As long as I stay grounded in love and light, all of my decisions lead to greater healing and greater understanding.”
