For #Women’sHistoryMonth, Parenting for Liberation wants to honor Black mama’s who are doing the work of raising liberated children. Throughout the month of March we will highlight Black mamas who lead, inspire, and cultivate liberation in their homes and in the community. Some are public figures and others are connected to our network. We are happy to honor and shine light on their Black Mama Magic!
Today we salute Serena Williams (@serenawilliams) for highlighting Black maternal health crisis by sharing her birth crisis.
“A year ago I was fighting for literally my life in the hospital after I had the baby. Every day I step out on this court I’m so grateful that I have an opportunity to play this sport. No matter what happens in any match, semis, finals, I just feel like I’ve already won.”
